Citizen Fins Webinar

On Tuesday evening (24th November) we held our first ever Citizen Fins ‘Ask Me Anything’ webinar, starring Dr Monica Arso Civil, as part of Explorathon 2020! Monica kicked off the live YouTube session with a great ten minute all-round overview of our Citizen Fins project, including some background on the East Coast bottlenose dolphin population and why we are asking for your help to monitor them as the population range continues to expand southwards.

We then moved on to answering a whole range of fantastic questions submitted by the public, on topics such as specifics of our project, the East Coast dolphin population in general and some great basic dolphin biology queries! Monica also covered lots of technical questions (with great examples) of how to submit your dolphin photos and the type of pictures that are super helpful to us for photo-ID, so that we can identify individual animals.

Thank you so much to everyone who got involved – we hope you found the webinar enjoyable and informative. If you weren’t able to join the webinar live, but would like to catch up on all our dolphin questions and answers, you can watch the recorded event as a YouTube video here: https://youtu.be/LKZZetwIlQE. We are very much hoping to host another Citizen Fins Q&A webinar in the future. And of course, if you have any further questions about submitting photos to the Citizen Fins project, you can contact us at: [email protected].
